Wells Mills is the largest park in the Ocean County Park System, with more than 900 acres of pine and oak forest. Its extensive trail network offers everything from a relaxing walk near the lake to longer, more rugged Pine Barrens hikes.

The sandy trails, lake views and quieter atmosphere make this a strong choice for dogs who enjoy exploring away from busier neighborhood parks. Trail difficulty and distance vary, so visitors can choose an outing suited to their dog’s energy level.

The park also includes a three-story Nature Center, observation deck, picnic area, playground, restrooms, fishing and seasonal canoe rentals. Dogs must remain outside the Nature Center.
