Gifts for the Person Who Has Everything | Laurel Lakes

I like to say, “If I want it, I bought it. If I didn't buy it, you probably can't afford it either.”

Which is funny until you're shopping for someone who operates under the same philosophy.

We all know at least one person who seems to own everything they could possibly want. They have particular taste, buy themselves whatever catches their eye, and are absolutely no help when you ask what they'd like for their birthday.

For these people, I tend to look for little luxuries, interesting finds, and things they probably haven't gotten around to buying themselves. Something personal is always a plus.

I've rounded up a few of my favorite ideas below. Click on any of the photos to shop the item or find out more.

A Nice Candle + Candle Warmer

I'm a firm believer that you can never have too many candles, although my collection might suggest otherwise. Pairing one with a pretty candle warmer makes it a more substantial gift, especially for someone who appreciates home decor. Bonus points if you know their favorite scent.

A Coffee Table Book

I love coffee table books as gifts because you can make them incredibly personal. Think beyond the usual decorating books and find something about a place they love, a favorite designer, their dog breed, or an interest they could talk about for hours. It gives them something beautiful to display and something they'll actually want to flip through.

Something Cozy

I don't think anyone has ever complained about being too comfortable. A pair of UGG slippers, a hot water bottle with a pretty cover, or a weighted sleep mask might not be the most groundbreaking gift ideas, but they're the sort of everyday luxuries that get used long after the occasion has passed.

Something Monogrammed

I have a weakness for a good monogram. A travel pouch, canvas tote, or cosmetic bag becomes a little more special with someone's initials on it. It's also an easy way to make a practical gift feel personal, especially when you choose colors and patterns that suit their taste.

Shopping for someone who has everything takes a little creativity, but I actually think that's part of the fun. You get to look past the obvious gifts and find something that suits their personality, their interests, or even a tiny detail you remembered from a conversation months ago.

And if they really do own absolutely everything, at least you can take comfort in knowing they're probably just as difficult for everyone else to shop for.
