Belleplain State Forest offers miles of flat forest trails and sand roads around Lake Nummy, a former cranberry bog turned swimming and paddling lake. In the off season it is common to have the trails nearly to yourself.

It works well as a shaded break from the beach towns, about twenty minutes inland from Sea Isle City.
