The Columbia Trail follows an old railroad bed out of High Bridge on wide, packed gravel, with tall trees overhead, streams alongside, and mile markers every quarter mile. Fairy houses and gnomes hidden along the first stretch are a local tradition.

The High Bridge trailhead has a large parking area and restrooms, and the town's cafes and shops are steps away for after the walk.

Know before you go

  • Keep dogs leashed and to the right; cyclists and e-bikes pass often
  • The trail is shared with horses
  • It is an out-and-back route, so turn around while your dog still has energy
