Etra Lake Park has a little more variety than the average town park. You can walk along the lake, wander through the arboretum, or follow the paths around the open fields and quieter edges of the property. The lake and mature trees make it especially pretty in fall, and the mostly easy, level paths are nice when you want a good walk without turning it into a hike. The park also has picnic areas, a playground, basketball and sports fields, a pavilion, and an environmental center.

Know before you go

  • The Etra Lake Pathway is paved, about 0.9 mile long, and 8 feet wide, connecting the park with the Twin Rivers area.
  • There is also a longer walking route around the park, plus paths through the arboretum. Township materials describe roughly 1.5–2 miles of additional walking trails depending on the route.
  • The arboretum has 29 native tree species with identification markers and QR codes, so it’s a nice section to wander rather than just sticking to the main paved path.
  • The park has restrooms, picnic areas, grills, a pavilion, a playground, sports fields, basketball, and a stage used for concerts and community events.
  • Summer concerts, movie nights, fireworks, and other township events are held here, so it can be considerably busier on event days.
  • East Windsor received funding in 2026 for a new inclusive playground, so that portion of the park may see construction or changes as the project moves forward.
