Fort Mott was built to defend the river approach to Philadelphia, and its concrete batteries and observation towers are open to wander. Wide lawns run down to the Delaware, where a pier gives long views up and down the river.

Leashed dogs are welcome on the grounds. An easy nature trail loops through the woods, and picnic pavilions and clean restrooms are close to the parking lot.
