Freneau Woods is mostly woods, water, and trails, with very little of the built-up feel you get at larger county parks. The 334-acre property sits along Matawan Creek and Lake Lefferts, with a mix of forest, wetlands, ponds, and open clearings to walk through. Trails are fairly easy and include shorter options like the Pond Walk, as well as longer loops through the woods with views toward the lake. It’s a good choice for a quieter dog walk, especially if you prefer natural trails over paved paths and busy recreation areas.
