Historic Smithville gathers dozens of independent shops and eateries around Lake Meone, linked by footbridges and brick walkways. Leashed dogs are a common sight on the grounds, and the village includes a shop for dog treats.

Beyond the shopping there is a carousel, a miniature train, and paddleboats on the lake. Weekends bring festivals and events through most of the year.
