Manasquan Reservoir is one of the area’s best options for a substantial walk with your dog. Its five-mile perimeter trail follows the edge of the reservoir through woods, wetlands and open stretches with expansive water views.

The trail is mostly level, making it approachable without feeling like a short neighborhood stroll. Wildlife sightings are common, and the changing scenery keeps the full loop interesting. A separate one-mile nature trail provides a shorter option.

The reservoir also has restrooms, a playground, fishing areas and a visitor center.
