Mercer County Park is one of the largest parks in the area, spreading across more than 2,500 acres around Mercer Lake. The park has a mix of paved walking paths and wooded trails, broad grassy areas, picnic spaces, playgrounds, athletic fields, and long stretches of waterfront, so there’s much more here for dogs than the fenced run alone.

Dogs are welcome throughout the main park on leash, including the walking trails and open park areas. The combination of lake views, wooded sections, and wide-open space gives the park a little more variety than a typical neighborhood walking trail, with enough room to cover several miles if you want a longer route.

The dedicated dog park sits within the larger property and has separate fenced sections for small and large dogs. It adds an off-leash option to an already very dog-friendly park, making Mercer County Park stand out as a place with both substantial walking space and a true designated area where dogs can run freely.

Beyond the dog-friendly areas, the park also includes Mercer Lake, a marina and boathouse, playgrounds, picnic areas, athletic facilities, and event spaces. Because the property is so large, different sections of the park feel surprisingly distinct, from busier recreation areas to quieter stretches of trail and open shoreline.
