Parvin State Park sits at the edge of the Pine Barrens, with well-marked trails circling Parvin Lake and Thundergust Lake through quiet forest. The main loop around Parvin Lake is long and flat, a good match for a steady walker.

The park dates to the 1930s, when the Civilian Conservation Corps built its roads and cabins. Dog-friendly campsites make it an easy first camping trip with a dog.
