Reeds Beach Jetty, also known as Bidwell Jetty, is a small public waterfront access point in Middle Township. The jetty stretches into the Delaware Bay beside a narrow natural beach, with views that reach far up and down the bayshore. It’s also used for fishing, crabbing, birdwatching, and watching the horseshoe crabs that gather along this part of the Delaware Bay each spring.

This is a much more natural shoreline than a typical Jersey Shore beach. There’s no boardwalk, guarded swimming area, or lineup of beach amenities, and the surrounding neighborhood stays fairly quiet. The beach is especially important habitat for migrating shorebirds, including red knots, ruddy turnstones, and sanderlings that stop here to feed on horseshoe crab eggs.

Dogs can come along outside the annual spring wildlife closure, but they should stay leashed and under control. Because the beach is protected habitat, access rules during shorebird migration are taken seriously.
