Best time to visit Year Round

Sandy Hook is a beautiful stretch of coastline with real history, a working 19th-century lighthouse, Fort Hancock, and sweeping views of the NYC skyline on a clear day. Bay-side beaches (Plum Island and Horseshoe Cove) are dog-friendly year-round on leashes, but oceanside beaches are off-limits to dogs from March 15 through September 15. Dogs are allowed on multi-use paths, sidewalks, and paved roads.
