Spruce Run wraps around one of New Jersey's largest reservoirs, with long stretches of shoreline to walk, picnic areas, playgrounds, and a lakeside campground. Birdwatching is good along the water.

It is calm outside of summer, when the park has room to roam and sunsets over the reservoir are the main event.

Know before you go

  • Dogs must stay leashed and are not allowed on the swimming beach
  • Keep dogs out of the water during algae bloom advisories, which have closed the beach in the past
