Stephens State Park follows a clear, rocky stretch of the Musconetcong River just outside Hackettstown. Picnic areas sit beside the water, and several loop trails climb into the hills for a moderate hike.

Trails drain well and stay mostly free of mud after rain. Dogs are welcome on a leash.
