Terhune Memorial Park preserves Sunnybank, the home of writer Albert Payson Terhune, whose collie stories made his dogs famous a century ago. The graves of the Sunnybank collies are marked on the grounds, which makes this a small pilgrimage for dog lovers.

The park slopes down to Pompton Lake, with shaded picnic tables, a gazebo, short walking paths, and fishing spots along the water. Leashed dogs are welcome.
