Yellow Dog Coffee Roasters started in 2019 as a garage hobby, owner Dave Smithman roasting beans at home in a popcorn maker, and grew into a full roastery and coffee bar, moving into a space more than double its original size in December 2025. The name comes from Smithman's own yellow lab, Oakley, and the dog-friendly spirit carries through the whole shop: well-behaved pups are welcome to join you inside, with a pup cup available from the dog menu. The shop roasts its own beans on-site (light through dark roast, decaf included), plus muffins, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches. They've also partnered with a local animal shelter on fundraiser drinks like the "Lucky Dog latte," with proceeds supporting adoptable animals.
